Luxurious, simple and unique
Lambs Pavilion is the creation of acclaimed conservation architect Nick Groves-Raines and Icelandic architect and painter, Kristin Hannesdottir, which sits adjacent from their family home, the restored 17th Century, A listed Lamb’s House.
Following the restoration of the historic house, Nick and Kristin created their dream neo-Georgian style pavilion complete with an ogee roof and Renaissance inspired garden, embracing architectural heritage and contemporary living in perfect harmony. This romantic little self-catering 3-storey house, sits within the core of the medieval Leith Conservation Area. It has been designed with meticulous detail, with the antique interiors reflecting the period of the main house combined with a Scandinavian influence of calming colours and simple, relaxed living. In true Scandinavian style the house has been designed upside down with the living areas on the top floor and bedrooms on the middle and ground levels adding to the uniqueness of this property. It is beautifully finished with a touch of luxury and comfort, from the under floor heating to the careful consideration given to the beds, linen and other furnishings.
The main double bedroom features a 14th Century style half-tester bed with a contemporary linen canopy, set against a Farrow & Ball’s ‘Cooks Blue’ wall. The room has a large rustic style closet and small antique dressing table. The cool calming feel of this period style room is the prefect sanctuary to unwind after exploring the bustle of Leith and city atmosphere.
The living area sits at the top of this self-catering property where you can enjoy the most of the natural daylight. The open usable fire and grey painted panelling add to a cosy character and period atmosphere with a hint of contemporary living.
There are two bathrooms in the house, one en-suite with wooden panelled WC and walk-in shower and the main bathroom, which features turquoise panelling, a free-standing cast iron clawfoot bath tub and traditional Victorian sink.
This bright and airy twin bedroom features two elegant Victorian brass bed frames with traditional castings and a sprung slatted base for extra comfort and support, which will ensure you have a peaceful night's sleep. This room also has wooden panelled en-suite WC with walk-in shower.
Stylish and practical the kitchen is fully equipped with oven, coffee maker and dishwasher.
Our large outdoor space, inspired by the romantic gardens of the Italian Renaissance boasts waterfalls, greenery and a montage of colour, offering you a little hidden paradise within an urban landscape. It is the perfect setting to enjoy alfresco dining or escape to the summer house with your favourite book.
In keeping with the main house an alcove bed has been created in the third bedroom using wooden panelling painted in Farrow & Ball's 'India Yellow' - This creates a perfect little snug which the kids and adult alike will love.
The property benefits from a separate, decent size utility room situated at the bottom of the house, which has a washing machine, sink and freezer. This is also an ideal place to store your luggage and buggies without cluttering your living space.
The Pavilion is an ideal alternative to a boutique style hotel, where you can enjoy the space and privacy with your family and friends in an unusual and unique setting. There is certainly no compromise on luxury and quality and being only footsteps away from an array of Michelin star restaurants, eateries and bars makes this the perfect place for a romantic getaway or special gathering.
